Chef Ed with his son Duke preparing for another amazing meal at Maʻo Organic Farms put on by OUTSTANDING IN THE FIELD!
Each half hour show – punctuated with local produce updates, and healthy inspirations – will be spent with a single family as they prepare a meal from their personal family recipe book. Whether we’re in Waialua, Honolulu, Hilo, upcountry Maui or visiting Kaunakakai, we’ll find families who continue to keep the tradition alive! The recipes they’ve continued to make that come from an ancestor. While in their kitchen, we learn about the individual characters and family history. We meet the grandmother, the son, the niece - whomever has taken the lead of learning how to make the dish best – and in the meantime we look at their family albums, listen to their stories and learn more about their culture.
A cross-hybrid of “Who Do You Think You Are?”, “Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations” and “Food Detective”, Family Ingredients will examine our European and Asian influences. Learning about ourselves – who we are and where we came from – this series will stand apart from most other cooking shows as a path to discovery, a lesson in geography and a history reminder of where our ancestors came from.
We travel, we search, we discover, we eat and all the while celebrate our diverse multicultural influences that make us who we are today.
